Melissa Joan Hart, 42, just revealed a pretty major weight-loss tip: She drinks MCT oil every. single. day.
The actress appeared on PEOPLE Now where she dished about how she recently started adding a bit of the keto-friendly oil to her daily diet. "I have just started putting MCT oil to my water, which I love," she said. She also puts the stuff in her tea on set.
She credits MCT oil for a bunch of benefits including weight loss. I, like, lost a little bit of weight right away and like-just a few pounds-but I was able to keep it off, she said. Melissa also said the oil gives her a bit of an energy boost and "keeps the cravings away."

Wait, wait, wait...what is MCT oil again?
MCT, or medium-chain triglycerides, is a type of saturated fatty acids made up of caproic, caprylic, capric, and lauric acid. MCTs can be found naturally in coconut oil , palm oil, and butter, but they can also be manmade in liquid supplement form, so you can add them to coffee or smoothies.
MCTs are different from long-chain fatty acids (typically found in unsaturated fats like olive and avocado oils), since they're metabolized by the body differently, Jill Keene, RD, previously told Women's Health . "MCT goes straight to your liver to be metabolized, and it wont be stored as fat-therefore, its quickly absorbed and provides a fast-acting energy source," she said.
That's also why MCT oil is such a hot commodity for keto dieters: The oil aids in ketosis (when you burn fat for energy instead of carbs) since MCTs are a more readily available energy source than long-chain fatty acids.
But Melissa says she is not on the keto diet. Apparently she was turned off from the popular diet when a doctor encouraged one of her friends to ditch it. But hey, at least she's into (and seeing results from) of one of the keto diet's star players.
