In a startling incident captured on CCTV on the evening of May 21, residents of Elmeut Estate near Maasai Lodge, Rongai, experienced an unexpected visit from a wild lion.
Around 10:00 P.M. security cameras recorded the large cat effortlessly climbing over a residential fence.
The footage reveals the lion prowling the perimeter before making its audacious entrance into a private compound.
After a brief stay, the lion is seen exiting the premises, this time with an unfortunate animal clutched in its jaws, vanishing into the darkness of the night.
According to Google Maps, the estate is near Nairobi National Park, where the lion could have come from.

This comes just days after the Kenya Wildlife Service had announced that they had received reports that three lions had been spotted near Lang'ata Women's Prison on May 16, which is on the opposite side of the Nairobi National Park.
It is not yet clear whether the recent lion sights are the same animals.
However, in the recent press release KWS detailed that the Problem Animal Control team, was mobilised immediately after receiving these reports.
Despite an extensive overnight search in and around the area, the team found no lions.
"KWS continues to monitor the situation closely and remains on high alert. Ensuring the safety of the public is our top priority.
"We urge residents to stay vigilant and report any wildlife sightings to the KWS 24-hour hotline number 0800 597 000 or WhatsApp 0726 610509 for immediate intervention," the statement read.

On May 17, the agency followed up with a public notice saying that the recent heavy rains have caused significant wildlife displacement.
This has led to the risk of unexpected encounters in community wildlife-prone areas.
As a precaution, KWS cautioned the public to avoid outdoor activities in those areas, especially after dusk.
