President Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to maintain peace even after the elections.

Speaking to the press after casting his vote in his Gatundu home, the President asked Kenyans to move on regardless of the outcomes of the results.

"Everyone should exercise their democratic right and vote. Once everyone votes, they should go home keeping in mind that we are all brothers and sisters. There is no need for violence," he said.

In his message to his competitors, President Kenyatta encouraged them to accept the results as he is also willing to do the same.

"My competitors, as I have always said, in the event that they lose, let us accept the will of the people; I am willing to accept the will of the people. Let us come together, let us pull this country together and let us move forward as one nation because that's the only way that we can achieve our joint vision for this country."

President Kenyatta casted his ballot at Mutomo Primary School in Kiambu County at around 11.30 am.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta accompanied him after she voted earlier at St. Mary's School.

His personal assistant Jomo Gecaga, State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu and children Ngina and Jomo Kenyatta were also with him.
