Trade CS Peter Munya was on Thursday taken to court after he failed to obey High Court orders in regards to payment of salary for Former Export Processing Zone (EPZ) Chief Executive Officer Fanuel Odede.
Odede stated that Munya’s failure to adhere to the directive issued had obstructed the implementation of the law.
“Peter Munya has to be found guilty of contempt of this court orders as there has been established beyond reasonable doubt,” remarked Odede.
According to the former EPZ boss, Munya had given no believable reason as to why he did not obey the orders.
Munya had however argued that Odede had not worked between September 20, 2018 till December 31, 2018, hence was not required to be paid.
“There is no evidence or any supporting documentation annexed therein to demonstrate any positive, good faith acts performed by him to facilitates the obedience of this courts clear orders of December 11 2018 as those orders remain disobeyed and ignored by EPZ,” stated the Trade CS.
Munya fires Odede verbally
In December 2018, the embattled Munya had been ordered to pay Odede after he fired him by word of mouth in September.
Justice Hellen Wasilwa had ruled that the CS should withhold the appointment of Odede’s successor George Makateto, until the matter was resolved.
Lawyer Dunstan Omari had argued that the sacking be reversed as labour laws had not been followed.
