Beckham, who sat down with Business Insider to discuss his partnership with Typhur, said the inspiration for his move into the kitchen was his wife, Nicola Peltz.

"I think my love for cooking and trying different cuisines definitely came from my dad," Beckham said, referring to his father, soccer legend David Beckham.

"But, right before COVID, it was my wife and I and she basically can't cook," he added. "I love cooking for my wife, so that's how my culinary journey really started."

Beckham first met Peltz — an actor and the daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz — at Coachella in 2017. But the two didn't hit it off until they reconnected at Leonardo DiCaprio's Halloween party two years later, Glamour reported.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

"I can't tell you what happened at the party, but from then on we were inseparable," Peltz told Tatler in June 2022.

The couple announced their engagement in July 2020 and got married at Peltz's father's estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in April 2022. Elle reported at the time that the wedding cost almost $4 million.

Beckham told BI that he and Peltz are "big foodies" who used to eat out "quite a lot" before the pandemic. Now she's trying to learn how to cook as well.

"We have six dogs, so now we usually find ourselves just eating at home. Either we order Chinese takeaway, Indian takeaway, or I cook," he added. "We love trying different cuisines, and she sends me all these videos of cooking recipes on Instagram and TikTok to make her."

Beckham's favorite dish to make Peltz is his spaghetti bolognese, which he learned from his father.

"My dad loves cooking, so he used to cook it all the time when I was a little kid," Beckham said. "I would be so excited coming home from school and seeing my dad make spaghetti bolognese."

Beckham continues to share his cooking videos on Instagram, although he's frequently faced criticism for his techniques — whether it's using too much oil to fry chicken or cooking bolognese sauce with a wine cork in the pot.

But Beckham said he just ignores the haters.

"I'm very far from a professional chef," Beckham said. "I love cooking for my wife, my family, my wife's family, and my friends."

"There are always going to be people out there who try and pull you down," he continued. "I'm doing my thing and working my bum off. So they can keep writing what they want, but it's not going to bother me."
