The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has finally taken action against Kitui Governor Chairity Ngilu after numerous complains of allegedly making hate speech remarks.

NCIC Chairman Francis Kaparo issued summons requiring Ngilu to appeared before his commission and explain claims that she incited youths to burn charcoal lorries in her county.

"Following the utterances by Ngilu in regards to charcoal burning, the commission has summoned the Governor in a letter dated February 14," Kaparo stated through his Twitter on Thursday.

Ngilu has denied allegations that she incited local youths to burn and destroy lorries carrying sand and charcoal.

She stated that the ban on charcoal burning has been in force since 2014 and that her administration is only enforcing the Kitui County Charcoal Management Act.

The Kitui county boss has also been on the spotlight over comments she made in apparent reference to members of the Somali community, saying there are no Kambas known as "Omar and Hassan".
