He denied committing the offence, while the Chief Magistrate, Mr Vincent Gwahemba, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000.
Luka, a resident of New Nyanya, by white house junction, Nasarawa State, is facing a two-count charge of house breaking and theft.
Gwahemba also ordered him to provide one surety in like sum as part of the bail condition and adjourned the case till April 24, for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Olusegun Fabiyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 6, at about 2 p.m. at Mammy, by Checking Point, Mararaba.
Fabiyi said that the case was reported by one Okwelu Emeka of the same address, at ‘A’ Division Police Station, Mararaba.
He alleged that the accused broke into the complainant’s beer parlour, located at Mammy and stole some items.
Fabiyi said, “the accused stole a set of home theatre with five speakers, a DSTV decoder, stabiliser and a power generator.
“Two cartons of beer, seven bottles of Gulder, eight bottle of Heineken and two cartons of African specials, all valued at N172, 900.”
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 346 and 288 of the Penal Code, which stipulate three years imprisonment for an offender
