IEBC Talks Collapse after NASA leaders Walk Out

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Orengo stated that it was meaningless to continue with the meeting after Jubilee leaders passed a Bill to amend Election Act.

He opined that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and other Commissioners were also baffled by the legislators’ new strategy to change the Constitution ahead of the repeat presidential election.

“This meeting with IEBC doesn't make any sense. The Chairman of the Commission also feels the same way,” he said.

The Senator held that the move by the ruling Government was meant to benefit President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming poll.

“Everything that went wrong in terms of the previous election has now been sanitized by this new proposed legislation,” he said.

Orengo observed that it was interesting how Jubilee MPs were in a hurry to make the changes.
