Interesting details have emerged of a secret Presidential debate President Uhuru Kenyattas team is planning after refusing to attend the National one organised by the Kenya media.
In a report by the Star, it has emerged that Mr Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will be addressing the Nation in a major televised Town Hall meeting.
According to sources privy to the information, President Kenyatta will seize the opportunity to engage Kenyans on a one on one basis.
It is said that the Head-of- State backed out from the debate because he does not want to trade barbs with the Opposition leader Raila Odinga. Instead Mr Kenyatta wants to address real issues pinpointed by the people.
“The President is not interested in a competition of words with his competitors. He wants to answer questions directly like he did at the Jubilee Party manifesto launch,” the local daily quoted.
Jubilee party is set to pay three hours of uninterrupted television airtime where Kenyatta and Ruto will answer questions posed by Kenyans.
“Other than the questions from the audience, the two Jubilee chiefs will also take questions sent through SMS and others sent via social media platforms."
This comes days after DP Ruto snubbed the Running Mates' debate that happened on 17 July 2017 where only one out of the eight running mates honoured the invitation.
