Best Movies of 2019

2019 has been an eventful year that has seen a lot of things happening from all aspects of life. The entertainment world has for another year continued to grow from music, down to Movies.

This year has seen some of the most epic movies being screened and we Pulse Live brings you a list of some of the movies to entertain you this festive season.

We all have different tastes and preferences when it comes to movies, and this list is based on this journalist’s opinion.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Keanu Reeves who plays John Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassin's guild. A $14 million price tag is placed on his head and he is the target of hit men and women everywhere. He has to fight to survive.

Critics say the 3rd Chapter of the John Wick thriller series lived up to their expectations.

Us is an American Horror film by Jordan Peele the second after Get Out. Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child with her family. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, she grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers attack the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.

This is an unsettling movie and worth every minute.

Angel Has Fallen

Angel Has Fallen is the third of the Fallen action thrillers that features Gerald butler (Mike Banning) and Morgan Freeman as president of the United States. Mike Banning is framed for an attempted assassination of the President and must evade the Secret Service and the FBI as he tries to uncover the real threat.

Most of the people who have watched the movie say that the first two (Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen) were better, but you will definitely get entertained.

Hobbs and Shaw

In another of the Fast and Furious franchise, Dwayne Johnson who plays Hobbs and Jason Statham (Shaw) join forces to take down Idris Elba who plays Brixton Lorr a cybernetically enhanced soldier with superhuman strength, a brilliant mind and a lethal pathogen that could wipe out half of the world's population.

It’s an action movie you definitely want to find time and watch!

Gemini Man

Gemini Man is an action-thriller starring Will Smith who plays the role of Henry Brogan an elite assassin who has chosen to retire, but suddenly becomes a targeted and is pursued by his clone.

According to critics, the special effects driven movie is dull, and does not engage the audience.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man (Peter Parker) who finds himself donning the Spider-Man suit while on vacation to help Fury (Samuel Jackson) and fellow superhero Mysterio stop evil entities from destroying the continent.

It is definitely a movie everyone looks forward to watching.

Avengers: Endgame

After Thanos disintegrated half of the universe in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers reunite and assemble again to revive their trounced allies and restore balance to the universe in Avengers: End Game.

One word I would use to describe this movie is EPIC! Worth every minute.

Dark Phoenix

Dark Phoenix is the 12th of the American superhero film based on Marvel Comics X-Men characters. During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean Grey is nearly killed when she's hit by a mysterious cosmic force. The force makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. The X-Men must now band together to save her soul by battle aliens that want to use Grey's new abilities to rule the galaxy.

Mentally troubled comedian Arthur Fleck is disregarded and mistreated by society. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Here is a list of some of the movies that stood out in 2019 you should find time to watch as you relax at home in the festive month of December; Shazam, Adventures of Aladin, Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Dark Fate and Lion King.
