Minutes after the 1-1 draw, Mutua took to Twitter to trash-talk Harambee stars, saying Kenya should just focus on athletics and forget about football, something that angered Kenyans.
“Kenya 1 - 1 Egypt
Mbona sisi hujilazimisha mpira? Si we just stick to running!” tweeted Mutua.
KOT On Mutua
Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) were quick to bounce on Mutua, castigating him for undermining the National team and other people’s talents.
Others argued that Mutua was just tweeting for the sake, without even watching the game, as Harambee had put on a good fight in the match against the Pharaoh’s.
Media Personality Carol Rudull told Mutua; “Clearly you did not watch the game! What an irresponsible statement from someone like you my friend! #HarambeeStars”
King Kaka added “Why would you say such a thing yet you hold a public office?”
