Diamond Platnumz is drunk with fame - Tanzanian Government

Tough confrontations between Diamond and Tanzanian government

The Minister stated that he is pissed off by Tanzanian pop star Diamond Platnumz for undermining the Assistant Minister of Information.

Diamond and Tanzanian Assistant Minister of Information Juliana Shonza have been confronting each other following the ban of Diamond Platnumz songs Halleluyah and Waka.

Just before Diamond launched is album christened ‘A boy from Tandale’ the Magufuli led government through Assistant Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Juliana Shonza revealed that the law of Tanzania does not allow a musician to perform a song that has been banned even if it's in a different country adding that doing that is going against the law.

The statement was directly aiming at Diamond because he was launching his album, which had the famous track ‘Halleluyah’ prohibited from being played in Tanzania.

In an interview with Times FM after the ban of his songs, Diamond protested the ban of his songs and came for the assistant Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Juliana Shonza who is behind the ban. He compared the Tanzanian Government to a man who doesn’t provide for his wife and yet makes demands.

A day after Diamond aired his grievances, Juliana Shonza responded to Diamond’s protests. She issued a directive that if Diamond wants his complaints addressed he should lodge the same in a letter addressed to the government.

Following the back and forth between the two, fierce Mwakyembe disclosed that the ‘Love you die’ hit maker has not been attending sessions the government has been holding for artists adding that they have been doing quite a lot of things.

“We cannot have law for other musicians and law for Diamond alone. I think these are signs and symptoms of starting to get drunk over fame. Diamond is neither the leader of the musicians’ organization nor the spokesperson.”

Mwakyembe further asserted that it is not wise for him to compete with the government. The Minister reiterated that there are other acceptable ways of making a request that do not involve attacking his assistant Minister.
