Most of us look at our celebrities through rose-coloured glasses and assume since that they look so dapper; this has always been the case.

But this is not true in the case of Inooro TV’s Ken Wakuraya who shocked many after he traveled back to the place he grew up in. Which was a mud semi structured house with gaping holes that he remains proud of to this day.

For those who don’t know, Ken had a very humble beginning before hitting it big. He was born in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County to a single mum and is the last born among 5 children. While many waited for their KCSE certificate to join University, Ken moved to Nairobi to fend for himself. He started off working at pharmacy before quitting it for an acting job. Unfortunately, acting did not pay as well as he expected so he quit and started selling mitumba panties and socks and doing construction work to survive in the cold streets of Nairobi.

But despite leaving acting, he still had a desire to act and so he started starring in some River Road bar productions and became a River Road Star.

His big break, however, came after he joined Tahidi High where he acted as a flirtatious Geography teacher with a love for country songs. Being at Tahidi High paved way for something bigger since Tahidi High is aired on Royal Media’s Citizen TV; he heard that the media house was holding auditions for new TV station so he decided to try his luck.

Luck was on his side and he managed to sail through and now he is one of the biggest Kikuyu news anchors to date. As they say, you should never forget where you come from as it has made you who are, so Ken decided to visit the humble home he grew up in and below are pictures from the visit:
