Today, social media is awash with news of Jackline Mwende’s pregnancy. With everyone plus their aunties giving their two cents on the issue and others sticking the scarlet letter on Mwende’s breast pocket.

But Nyota Ndogo believes that people shouldn’t be so quick to judge Mwende as they do not know her story or her struggle.
Here is what she wrote after sharing a photo of Mwende:

Translation:I would like to talk about Jackline Mwende. Apart from being a musician I like talking about issues in society especially those that involve women.
Everyone knows about Jackline’s condition as she is now the hot topic in the country. Women go through a lot of things in their marriage. Some have enough of the marriage issues and leave, while others stay and say that they will endure it all because of their children.
Others stick around as they have nowhere to go or if their family tells them to withstand it all because marriage is not easy.
About being barren, who said that it is only women can be barren? There are men who are infertile and now people are blaming this women saying that she should have left instead of cheating. People like judging others especially Kenyans. How many people know the struggle she underwent in Stephen Ngila’s house? Or with his family? Maybe she was told she is barren and ordered to leave.
Others choose to stay as they are in love. I suspect that Mwende loved her husband so; much that she thought the only way to save her husband from shame was to get a child with another man. Have you considered that? She is human and she got tired of people calling her barren.

Unfortunately some men don’t want to be checked and have the condition rectified they would rather beat the woman up and embarrass her publicly so that people outside can think she is the one with the problem. It was wrong for her to stray out of her marriage but maybe she wanted to save her husband from the agony and shame of not being able to reproduce.
