The People Daily Newspaper’s Managing Editor Maina Muiruri has called it quits, after 8 years in the Kenyatta Family-owned media house.
According to Business Today, Muiruri handed in his resignation to the Editor in Chief Peter Opondo on Tuesday, barely a week after he was given a show-cause why letter to defend some of his decisions on the editorial desk.
It is reported that he also wrote an exit note to all members of staff.
“A time to say goodbye and to appreciate the good times we’ve shared. God bless you all,” read the email.
Mr Muiruri joined Mediamax in July 2010.
Audit report
This follows a recent audit report on the Kenyatta-owned media house that revealed the existence of ghost workers and contributors, where some people are said to have received salaries for doing nothing while others had their earnings inflated.
This is said to have had the company lose Sh2.8 million.
