Anne Waiguru weds lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in lavish traditional wedding

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and her lawyer boyfriend Kamotho Waiganjo have tied the knot in a lavish, invites only traditional affair.

The two who have been lovers for many years exchanged their vows in a traditional Kikuyu wedding called ‘ngurario’ at Kiamugumo Primary School in Ngariama Ward, Gichugu Sub County.

The ngurario was attended by close friends and family members of the two (Waiguru and Kamotho) as well as the high and mighty who included President Uhuru Kenyatta, Opposition leader Raila Odinga and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

Others present in the ceremony included Siaya Senator James Orengo, Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege, Senator Ledama, Karanja Kibicho, CS Amina Mohammed and CS Michael Kamau among others.

Engagement

This comes a few months after the Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru got engaged to the man of her dreams (Waiganjo) in a lavish ceremony held at the Lord Erroll hotel in Nairobi.

The engagement affair brought to an end years long speculations on her love life that remained private despite her high flying career.

The event held on 16 February 2019, two days after Valentine’s Day saw City lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo and Governor Waiguru formalize their relationship and pay dowry in accordance to Kikuyu customs with close friends and relatives witnessing.

How they met

Their relationship began 10 years ago when the two met at a ferry in Likoni and shared a meal of bread and soda.

Although they had met previously and were familiar with each other, Waiganjo would later reveal that the meeting at the ferry marked the beginning of his pursuit for Waiguru whose love life remained a closely-guarded secret despite her high-flying career.

This act of humility (feasting on bread and a bottle of soda), according to Waiganjo melted his heart, making him realize that “she (Waiguru) was a basic girl,” despite her career and achievements.
