List of big spenders when it comes to advertising in Kenya (Business Daily)

Advertising is one of the biggest revenue earners for different media platforms, which includes Radio, TV and Print.

Radio is reported to be the most used medium for advertising because of the large audience it commands compared to both TV and print. This is also attributed to the high number of free to air radio stations available.

In a report by TIFA Research, 2017 had the highest advertising spends in all years, because it was a campaign year. In 2018 and 2019, however, the Betting and Gambling sector took control of Kenya's advertising sector because of increased competition.

In 2018 alone, an estimated Sh91.5 billion was spent on advertising, with Betting and Gambling taking the lion share of 22 percent of total advertising the same year.

Betting and Gambling was followed closely by the Finance sector at 14 percent, food at 9 percent, with Communication and Beverages at 8 percent each.

In the top advertising spenders list, Safaricom and the Government of Kenya featured among institutions that have consistency when it comes to advertising, maintain the top spots as big spenders from 2014 to the first half of 2019.

Coca-Cola is also among the companies that also featured severally as a top spender in advertising.
