Popular radio presenter Vincent Ateya lands a new job at RMS

Popular radio presenter Vincent Ateya has landed a new job at the Royal Media Services (RMS).

Vincent Ateya who once worked at RMS’s Radio Citizen as “Jambo Kenya”breakfast show host, in his new capacity will serve as the Head of radio stations broadcasting in the Luhya dialects, in the S.K. Macharia owned Media Company.

His new position will have him oversee operations in three of RMS’s vernacular radio stations; Vuuka FM, which targets the Maragoli community, Sulwe FM for the Bukusu and Mulembe FM which broadcasts to Luhya speakers in Kakamega, Busia and Vihiga counties.

Vincent Ateya left Radio Citizen after working with the station for seven years to Milele FM, then owned by current Taita-Taveta Governor Granton Samboja before he left for Qwetu FM in 2016.

While at Qwetu FM, Ateya who has good mastery of the Swahili language was the programmes manager as well as the breakfast show presenter in the station that is said to be struggling financially.

Changes

His appointment comes in the recent wake of realignments at the Royal Media Services that has seen the station poach top talent from rival media houses.

The realignments have seen Former NTV Head of Broadcast division Linus Kaikai appointed the new Director of Strategy and Innovation. Former KTN Managing Editor Joe Ageyo has been tasked to head the Editorial department and Former NTV Anchor Jamila Mohammed has be appointed Managing Editor for the Swahili Desk.
