Waititu responds to Sonko’s claims of smoking bhang in Parliament toilet

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has finally responded to claims by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko that they used to smoke bhang in Parliament toilets.

Speaking on JKLive, Waititu said that Sonko is a respectable leader and should stop being a joker.

He went on to state that he had never abused any drugs his entire life and that his strong stand against drug abuse is something the public is very much aware of.

Baba Yao said that he was disappointed that Governor Sonko would utter such words, adding that if the words came from a different person, he would sue for defamation.

I want to state from the onset that I have never consumed any type of drugs, be it Bhang or anything. People know that I strongly oppose any type of drug taking and my firm stand is known by everybody. In fact if such utterances came from somebody else I would have gone to court for defamation but since they came from Sonko I know him, I know why he said it and I also don’t take him seriously and to me it’s very disappointing to see such words coming from somebody who is entrusted to the lives of over 4 million people,” said Governor Waititu.

Smoking bhang

The Kiambu Governor’s words came after Mike Sonko accused him of smoking bhang, a few days ago.

In an interview with Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange, Sonko claimed that when they were both MPs they used to sneak in bhang into parliament, which they then smoked in parliament toilets.

"He used to smoke a lot of bhang when he was an MP, I'm a witness to this, we used to go to a certain toilet there... we used to smoke a lot of bhang with this guy," Sonko said.

"He was hiding bhang in the socks.. he rolls so many... I'm a witness... I'm not smoking anymore him he's still smoking as the governor of Kiambu," he added.
