Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu has received a rare recognition from a top government official days after scooping two awards.

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda who could not hide his excitement posted Wema Sepetu’s picture with a caption asking for a picture of her receiving her awards because he had heard people who could not organize awards talk.

Makonda asked Wema to continue doing well so that next year she wins again as he congratulated Azam TV for going beyond the expectations of many people.

“Naomba picha uliyopokea tunzo kwasababu nimesikia meneno maneno kwa Watu wasiyoweza kuandaa hata tuzo ya kuku. Hongera Azamu tv mmefanya zaidi hata ya matarajio ya Watu. Endeleeni kufanya vyema ili mwakani mpokee tuzo tena na wale wenyekukosoa endeleeni kukosoa ili mwakani mkosoe tena. Huu ndiyo utamaduni unaofanya wenyekufanikiwa wachukiwe na wanaowachukia kujifariji kwa maneno bila kuweka bidii ktk kazi.” Said the Regional Commissioner.

SZIFF awards

His sentiments came as some people felt that Wema did not deserve the Best Female actress and the People’s choice awards she won in the Sinema Zetu International Film Festival (SZIFF) on Sunday.

Wema Sepetu thanked RC Makonda for encouraging her.

“Naskia RC wangu kaniomba picha ninayopokea Tuzo.... Nimeipata Le Commander hio apo juu baba angu... Napenda pia nikushukuru kwa kunipa moyo maana nahitaji hio Courage sana kwa sasa,” she said.
