Wema Sepetu hospitalized, fails to appear in court

Tanzanian award winning actress Wema Sepetu has been hospitalized in India, where she is expected to undergo surgery.

Reports of her travelling to India for treatment came after she failed to appear in court following her ongoing drug case.

According to her mother Mariam Sepetu, the Bongo Actress has not been feeling well and she travelled to India for an operation.

Wema’s mother also produced documents to show that her daughter had travelled for treatment, after the prosecutor questioned why she was not in Court.

It is however not clear what disease Wema Sepetu is ailing from.

Case

In the case, Wema Sepetu and two others Angelina Msigwa and Matrida Seleman Abbas were accused of abusing drugs.

It was alleged that in February last year Wema and her co-accused were found in possession of rolls of bhang at Kunduchi Ununio.

Tanzanian police launched a crackdown on top celebrities after a numbers of them were linked to drug Trafficking. The celebrities included, Wema Sepetu, TID, Ray C, Idris Sultan, Azan Zungu, Abas Mutevu, Rugemarila Mutahaba, Vanessaa mdee, Tunda, Halidali Kavila, Amani, Kashozi, Agnes Masogange and Omry Sanga.
