Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

The action was taken after outrage on social media after a lady was allegedly shot in the hand by a rogue cop for no reason at all. In the footage taken at the KICC gate near City Hall the police is seen dashing away amid a civilian confronting him and telling him to record a statement. When the cop tried to conceal his face, the person taking the footage pulled it down. Feeling cornered, the policeman said “Nitakuua” (I will kill you) before running into Uhuru Park. The person who recorded the footage did not pursue him as he feared for his life. The guy behind the footage identified only as George has been lauded as brave in the face of impunity by a section of Kenyans while others felt that cursing out the cop was too risky.

Anyhow, let’s see if IPOA will take any action when the witnesses comes forward.
