Before gracing our television screens, these TV personalities launched their careers on radio.

As the world marks World Radio Day, Pulselive.co.ke compiled a list of the top Kenyan TV personalities that got their start into media as radio hosts.

Here are top 12 Kenyan TV personalities that started off on radio.

1.Yvonne Okwara-Matole

Senior News Anchor and editor at KTN Yvonne Okwara-Matole started off on radio more than 10 years ago on Hot 96 before switching to TV broadcasting.

2.Joey Muthengi

The celebrated 10/10 host started off on radio working for Hot 96. She then moved to hosting 10/10 and more recently added anchoring the 1pm news bulletin on Citizen TV to her list of TV jobs.

3.Zain Verjee

Before the former CNN anchor joined international media, Zain Verjee started off as a traffic news anchor at Capital FM.

4.Janet Mbugua-Ndichu

Former Citizen TV news anchor Janet Mbugua started working in radio at the age of 19 at Capital FM.

5.Amina Abdi

One of the more recent radio personalities to make the move to TV is former Hits not Homework host Amina Abdi. She began working at Homeboyz radio before joining Capital FM to host Hits not Homework.

She recently hang her boots rather mic up and is now focusing on television and MCeeing gigs.

6.Mark Masaai

The celebrated NTV news anchor began working as a news anchor on Hope FM before moving to Classic FM. His work in radio garnered the attention of several television stations such as Nation Media Group at the age of 22.

7.Johnson Mwakazi

Former Citizen TV anchor Johnson Mwakazi also worked in radio before joining television.

8.Anne Kiguta

Anne Kiguta worked at Hope FM as well as Capital FM before joining KTN and eventually Citizen TV as a news anchor.

Before pioneering the hit show The Trend on NTV, James Smart worked as an anchor on Capital FM.
