Warning! Make-up testers could give you incurable STDs

Can you actually get an STD from make-up testers?

You’ve walked into a supermarket or pharmacy and have seen a lipstick shade that you know you have to have. Only problem is that it’s a little bit off your budget; you’re basically out of options now.

*Lightbulb* You’ll just use the tester to see how it looks on you and since you don’t have money to buy it then you can just rock it for that day and take really great selfies for the gram.

Flash forward to the next morning and you wake up with a huge mouth sore on your lip.

This is kind of what happened to a woman who is suing Sephora claiming that she got herpes from a lipstick tester in their store.

According to the woman, she did not have any form of cold sores before trying out the lipsticks at Sephora.

"The woman is suing the cosmetics chain for the emotional distress over an 'incurable lifelong affliction' she says she now has to deal with as a result of using its lipstick samples," TMZ reports.

Scary stuff right there.

Despite the claims still to be confirmed, it is still very possible to get herpes and other serious diseases.

According to the L.A Times, herpes, pink eye and E.coli are just some of the infections found in communal make-up brushes.

“If a woman has cut on her lip and borrows lipstick from someone who has a cold sore, she’ll get a cold sore. You can pass herpes, conjunctivitis (pink eye) and all sorts of things through sharing make-up,” a Beverly Hills-based dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi was quoted by the Style Caster.

There are various ways to use the testers, if you must, at public cosmetic stores. For instance, using disposable applicators instead of the same applicators that are usually there.

The best way to avoid these infections though is simply by avoiding to share communal make-up in the first place.
