Even some spotting during pregnancy will leave you worried because you do not know what is happening. And you have every reason to worry because no bleeding is considered normal during pregnancy. Sometimes it could be just spotting, a ruptured cyst and it could also be a miscarriage. Since you can never be sure, the best thing is to visit the doctor if you are bleeding during pregnancy.

Most miscarriages happen in the first twelve weeks and you should be aware of the signs of miscarriage so that you can see a doctor soonest possible. Although nothing can be done to stop the miscarriage once it starts, you can get medication to prevent excess bleeding and infections. Also, the doctors may have to complete the abortion if it wasn’t already complete.

Here are some signs of miscarriage you should know:

1. Bleeding

This is probably the first sign that you should watch out for. The bleeding varies from light bleeding to heavy bleeding with clots and solid fetal material. If it’s in the early weeks, you may actually confuse it for period bleeding.

2. Cramping

It could be like period cramps or even more painful. Sometimes cramping could be as a result of the uterus expansion but it could also be a sign of miscarriage especially if it’s accompanied by other symptoms.

3. Not feeling pregnant

A few weeks after conceiving, you will start experiencing the pregnancy symptoms. Tender breast, sore nipples, fatigue, nausea, and cravings. If you suddenly stop experiencing these symptoms, your hCG levels could have gone so down that they cannot support the pregnancy.

You may also experience other symptoms such as pelvic pain, headache, and abdominal pains. If you have most of these symptoms, visit a doctor for an ultrasound to rule out the possibility of miscarriage.
