Unusual signs of dehydration you need to know

How many glasses of water do you drink in a day?

Dehydration causes bad breath

Although health experts advise that one should drink eight glasses or two liters of water per day, it’s still something most people debate about. Depending on certain factors such as someone’s body and the weather, some people may need to consume more than that.

But what is really important is to make sure that you stay hydrated and that you also do not drink excess water. Too much water may lead to intoxication and overload of the kidneys. We had already listed some signs that show you are drinking too much water.

You may already know some of the common signs of dehydration such as headaches, dark urine, fatigue, and dry skin. But some signs are unusual and they may pass you if you do not know them. Check out some of them:

1. Cravings

You are not pregnant and you are not PMSing. But you are still craving cookies or cake? It’s possible that you are dehydrated. While you may crave for any food, you will mostly crave for sweet foods. This is because your body finds it difficult to convert glycogen into glucose when you are dehydrated.

2. Muscle cramping

When your body is dehydrated, it’s not able to cool itself properly. The heat in your body affects your muscles causing the cramps. So if your muscles have been cramping when exercising, it could be because you have not been drinking enough water.

3. Bad breath

Oral hygiene is pretty important not just for you but because it also affects those around you. The foods you eat such as garlic could be the cause of your bad breath. But dehydration also causes bad breath. Saliva has antibacterial properties that prevent mouth odor. But if your body is dehydrated, it’s not able to make enough saliva.

4. You are not sweating

You may think that this is a good thing but it could be a warning sign that you are dehydrated. Your body is trying to hold on to the little fluids remaining and it’s why you are not sweating.
