The thyroid gland located at the base of one’s neck is responsible for producing metabolism regulating hormones.

When the thyroid is not active, there can be what is known as hormone deficiency which results to a slow metabolism thus weight gain.

2.Prescription drugs effect

Prescribed drugs can also cause weight gain.

Obviously, observation would be necessary to determine whether you started gaining weight after taking prescribed medicine.
