1.Hypothyroidism
The thyroid gland located at the base of one’s neck is responsible for producing metabolism regulating hormones.
Those hormones help to regulate the body’s usage of fats and carbohydrates.
When the thyroid is not active, there can be what is known as hormone deficiency which results to a slow metabolism thus weight gain.
2.Prescription drugs effect
Prescribed drugs can also cause weight gain.
Obviously, observation would be necessary to determine whether you started gaining weight after taking prescribed medicine.

3.Anger, anxiety and depression
This isn’t such an uncommon reason for weight gain as a lot of people usually stress eat.
Feelings of anxiety, anger or depression can lead to stress eating. A lot of people see it as a coping mechanism.
