Online shopping site

Jumia is an online platform similar to ebay where they sell goods via their website. The goods are put on display on the website.

An interested buyer views the products, the prices, warranty, manufacturer and current offers. Having been satisfied with their choice they sign up to create an account with Jumia.

However if you already have an account there will be no reason to sign up instead you will log in. When that process is complete the customer places an order. The customer is also required to choose the payment option. The available payment options are:

  1. Cash with order- This is payment done when the order has been placed. It is as if you are making a deposit only that you make the full payment.
  2. Cash on delivery- This is payment done when the particular product has been delivered. The Jumia attendants give a call to the customer and inform them that the order is ready and due to be delivered. As the product is being handed to the customer the payment is done then.

Jumia accepts different modes of payment such as MPESA, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and others.

It takes 2-7 seven business days for delivery to be made from the time the order was made. When a person orders, the order is assigned a particular id. The details of the order are well documented in the customer’s Jumia account.

Regular updates about the progress of the order are made and indicated on the website. This way it is easy to track the location of the product.

These are the steps that are involved

  1. Client orders for their preferred good.
  2. The order is processed and given a specific order id.
  3. The order is packaged at the Jumia offices.
  4. The order is dispatched ready for delivery.
  5. The order is delivered to the customer’s location within the stated timelines.

Despite the fact that Jumia promises products with a warranty, they do not deliver the warranty itself. Many reviewers have complained that the products delivered by Jumia came with no warranty. However if you are dissatisfied with the product, you should return it within seven days after delivery. If the seven day window lapses there will be no refund when you return the product.

Reviewers have also accused Jumia of being sluggish in their responses. They take too much time to respond and also deliver. If you make an order you will have to endure waiting for the product to be delivered.

On the flip side, the online seller is applauded for good customer care. The Customer care attendants are very keen on listening to the customers’ needs. They respond quite appropriately and not indifferently towards customers.

Prices are generally fair and as compared to the ones in the market. Moreover, Jumia gives offers that heavily discount prices of goods like the Black Friday offers. They give up to 50% off on the original prices.

Genuineness of Jumia products

According to reviewers the products delivered are fairly genuine and original. Few complaints have been lodged about getting counterfeit products though. Therefore it is recommended that you thoroughly examine the product after it is delivered so that you can ensure it is genuine.

If not ask for a refund within seven days.
