The August 2017 elections has seen Kenyans vote out many of their leaders to give room for the youth to take lead. Some of the unique cases were seen in Igembe South where a 23 year old John Paul Mwirigi was made a Member of Parliament.

Nairobi city was not left behind as this election saw a recruit of a new type of politician highly accustomed to the current youthful society that has taken over the city.

With the likes of Former Governor Kidero finally gone, Nairobi welcomed in a fresh batch of leaders who not only have proven their interest and passion for the people but have over the time been identified for flashy, luxurious and hype lifestyles and night life.

These are party going, bling wearing politicians that are taking over Nairobi.

1. Jaguar

A musical big wig who has gained the continent’s recognition with his over the top collaborations Charles Njagua was elected as the Member of Parliament for Starehe. Just a sneak peek into his music videos will tell a story of the lavish life that the Going Nowhere singer is leading. Just earlier on this year, one of his Range Rover’s killed two people and now he has a court case that is going on. But you’ve got to give it to him, his the ninja who burst into tears when he lost the nominations.

2. Babu Owino

The Embakasi East Member of Parliament is arguably one of the most controversial political leaders in the country. His ability to influence and lead was seen in his university days as the Chairman of Nairobi University’s SONU. Of course, this was not without a few problematic scandals where he spent nights in jail (and popped a bottle of Johnny Walker in the cell) for, was allegedly leading a gang of goons in the school. Babu doesn’t hesitate to flaunt his stacks of money that have left Kenyans wondering just how he is financing that kind of lifestyle. Well, he did just get elected. Babu’s latest scandals include interrupting IEBC Ezra Chiloba at Bomas and his dramatic attitude during Nasa Presser that had Kenyans ask him to drop the University mentality. Remember when he spent 14million on his birthday?

3. Mike Mbuvi Sonko

He is the love of many disadvantaged in Nairobi. With his Sonko Rescue team at beck and call, the governor of Nairobi City has over the past changed many lives by using his personal rescue team to help those in need. Still, Sonko has met an equal amount of disapproval for his unorthodox personality that has seen him walk into parliamentary meetings with heavy gold chains hanging from his with peculiar dyed haircuts and ripped jeans. He left tongues wagging when a picture went viral of him waiting for the election results while sipping from a five liter bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label.

4. Johnson Sakaja

When he’s not busy becoming Nairobi’s dream Senator, Johnson Sakaja loves to play guitar and watch rugby. It’s no secret that the Kenyan ladies are crushing on his very handsome looks (…mmh that dimple) However, unlike the rest, Johnson has made his reputation not through his wealth but for his prolific and in depth understanding of the political world. Still, he’s been seen partying with the big heads, his latest gig was when Jamaican sensation Busy Signal performed  a few weeks ago.
