Lover’s day is around the corner folks. What are you going to get up to? Well, Valentine’s Day dates depend on how deep your pockets are. You can literally fly your girl down to Mount Kenya for breakfast if you’re on that lane and you can also have a simple dinner if that’s your lane. Good thing is, there’s always something for everyone and you don’t have to splurge to have a decent date and make your girl happy. Sometimes, it’s the thought that counts. If you’re on a budget, you can consider some of these dates.
9 fun Valentine's Day date ideas
Not too sure about what to do on Valentine’s Day?
1. The good old traditional dinner.
A classic oldie – taking your girl out for dinner to a nice restaurant, depending on what cuisine she likes. Nairobi has a tone of restaurants that cater for all cuisines, from Indian to Pakistani to Chinese, Italian, African, name it. Reserve a table for two, get a bottle of her favorite wine and enjoy a candle lit dinner.
2. No money for dinner? Cook!
Sometimes, staying in is much better especially if you’re over 30. You appreciate just being at home and going out less the older you grow. Many a times, you actually don’t get value for money in restaurants so why not download a recipe and make a meal that you both fancy, grab a good wine, light up some candles, then enjoy watching a nice romcom or silly YouTube videos after? Sounds pretty relaxing huh? Plus, ladies, you don’t have to go through the hustle of picking out an outfit, doing a full-face makeup etc. Just pjays and cuddles.
3. Go to a karaoke bar.
If she likes music, or you both like music, you could go to a karaoke bar and sing your favorite song. If not, well, you could grab a few drinks, watch other people sing and just enjoy the good time. If karaoke is not your thing, you could opt for live music instead. There are always live bands every other day and even more so on Valentine’s Day. Go out and be serenaded by an amazing live band as you enjoy a few cocktails and biting.
4. If you’re at the coast or somewhere near a lake, book a boat ride.
A boat ride is so calming and relaxing. The breeze, views, plus the scenic environment makes for perfect photo backgrounds.
5. Go for a cooking class.
Some men are not romantic enough to enjoy this but if you’re both foodies, take up a cooking class and learn how to make a four or three course signature meal together. This really helps bring you two closer as you will need a lot of team work to get the meal done properly. Plus, you get to enjoy that meal in the end with a glass of wine. Not too shabby.
6. Go shopping.
It sounds vain but you’d be amazed at how many girls will appreciate a simple day at the mall just picking out their favorite items. Take your girl to Backyard shoes, have her pick out her favorite pair of heels, head to Mango or Mr. price, get her a few dresses and she’s the happiest girl in the world. It’s really easy to please some women. But you have to know what she likes and what she doesn’t like. This is not exactly the cheapest date idea out there, but hey you gotta spoil your woman every now and then.
7. A getaway.
It doesn’t have to be out of the country if you don’t roll that way but you can have a simple drive out of town to an affordable place for a night. There are so many places out of Nairobi that you can go on an affordable romantic getaway. Normally, the prices are inflated around Valentine’s Day so you can book it later and surprise her.
8. Concert.
Is she into nights out and concerts? Cop some concert tickets for the coming weekend and have a belated Valentine’s Day date, dancing the night away.
9. Have a photo shoot day.
Hire a professional photographer and pay for a package that includes makeup for bae. Spend a few hours getting the perfect shots. Frame some of those photos. There’s no girl that hates professional photos. A fun way to spend the day and you could have a lunch or dinner after plus, the professional images will be a good form of memorabilia.
