Alfred Mutua reveals how Senators extort money from Governors

There is a lot of corruption in the Senate – Mutua

Machokos Governor Alfred Mutua

Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has disclosed how Senators have been extorting money from Governors.

Appearing on a local radio station on Tuesday morning, Governor Mutua said that there is a lot of corruption in the Senate oversight Committee.

He further accused the oversight committee members of asking Governors for money, every time they summon them to answer to allegations leveled against them.

Senators are always asking for money every-time they call on governors, there is a lot of corruption within the senate oversight committee,” said the Machakos Governor.

Mutua summoned

His accusation comes a few months after he received summons to appear before the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee (PAIC) to answer to queries raised from the Auditor General’s report for the 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 financial years.

The committee went ahead and asked Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to arrest and present before it the Machakos Governor, for disobeying summons of the House.

Mutua later on responded, accusing the committee of intending to make him look bad to the public.

He went ahead to say that he was surprised the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee had convened a sitting without inviting him.
