Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has distanced himself from the meetings of a section of ministers from the Mt Kenya region.

The CS who spoke to journalists said that his job was to deliver on the vision of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

"I have no idea of what is going on in Nairobi. We have been given a job by President Uhuru and DP Ruto," CS Kiunjuri said.

"…Mtaendelea kuskia mengi, mengi lakini mimi nataka kukaa chini ya maji [“You will continue to hear a lot of things, but I want to stay quiet from it.”] he added.

Denied knowledge

Kiunjuri denied knowledge of the La Mada meetings which Trade CS Peter Munya said were geared towards development and not a plan to block the DP from becoming president.

Questions have been asked as to why the CS who hails from the Mt Kenya region was not part of the Lamada meetings.

CS Munya during an interview confirmed that the Agriculture CS was not part of the meetings saying that they did not have any specific issue about agriculture relating to Kiunjuri.

Plot against DP Ruto

The DCI had summoned CSs from the Mt Kenya region over the meetings after DP Ruto called George Kinoti to make a complaint.

According to the DCI, Dr Ruto alleged that there were threats on his life being plotted at the meetings but the CSs refuted the claims.

Munya, who spoke to the press when they were summoned to the DCI headquarters, said such a claim equates them to criminals, and they now want the DP to substantiate his claims.
