Reports of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka abandoning the National Super Alliance (NASA) was the talk of town for the better part of Friday afternoon.
The debate started following a statement, allegedly from his party indicated that he had quit the Alliance to vie on a Wiper ticket for the Presidential seat, made rounds on social media.
“My short time as NASA Deputy flagbearer has seen major frustrations, underhand dealings, non-committent and absolute dishonesty from any previous partners and various other acts which go against the very grain of the values and principles I live by.
“Fellow Kenyans, I hereby wish to withdraw from NASA ( a process which my legal team has begun) and offer my candidacy for the office of President of Republic of Kenya, under a Wiper Democratic Movement ticket,” the letter date May 5 , 2017 read in part.
Kalonzo’s campaign materials including t-shirts, caps etc. were also shared on social media propagating the debate further.
Under the hashtag #KalonzoDumpsNASA the topic made number one on Kenya trends.
However, the claims were dismissed by others as mere propaganda spearheaded by Jubilee.
The former Vice President has assured Kenyans more than once that he would not quit NASA.
He vowed to run for the top job with ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who is NASA presidential candidate for the August 8 General Elections.
