NASA leader quits ahead of General Election

Muthama accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo of favoritism during the nomination exercise,  something that forced him quit from the party.

In a press statement, the Senator mentioned that democracy was not demonstrated in the primaries and for this reason, he could no longer campaign for the Party.

“Nevertheless, recent developments and part decisions have gravely disappointed me.  The culture of killing democracy has emerged in our party and repression has been promoted.

“The party leader has been imposing candidates on the people and ensuring that, by hook or crook, these people become Wiper candidates,” the Senator noted.

Mr. Muthama claimed that the Prof. Kivutha Kibwana and Wavinya Ndeti were illegally handed nomination tickets for the Makueni and Machakos gubernatorial seats.

"It puzzles me why agreement have been done behind our backs,” he said.

The Senator who highlighted that he had abandoned Wiper and would now focus his energies on campaigning for ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

“I do not feel I have the face, anymore, to campaign or face our supporters in Wiper all over because the party has betrayed the people’s trust,” Muthama added.

He further mentioned that he was till considering what he will be doing next.

"As I contemplate my next move, I assure there will be a bruising political battle in Ukambani and that the voice of the people will be heard," the Senator said.

Mr Muthama has been actively involved in the affairs of the National Super  Alliance (NASA) and was also part of the technical committee that picked the Presidential candidate.
