Navuka border singer, Jaguar crosses over to politics and declares interest to become Starehe MP

Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Friday, Jaguar declared that he was ready to give the incumbent Maina Kamanda a run of his money.

After the announcement his campaign team dispatched to sell his agenda and popularize him in the Nairobi Central Business District.

Jaguar resigned from his post as Nacada director in January, claiming personal reasons.

The race will also see him face off with vocal and fiery activist, Boniface Mwangi who early this year announced he would be vying for Starehe MP as an independent candidate.

Since then he has released a number of you tube videos in a bid to popularize himself to the electorate, he also resigned from PAWA 254 leadership in January to concentrate on his new passion.

Controversial city businessman, Steve Mbogo is also eyeing the seat on an ODM ticket.

Jaguar is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and  was appointed board member at the drug-fighting agency Nacada in April 2015, immediately sparking speculation that he was warming up to join politics.

A shrewd businessman, he is popular in the Nairobi especially in the slums where he has done a lot of charity work.

Maina Kamanda is a veteran politician and knows the tricks of the game however with the entrance of Jaguar, Boniface and Steve the game may just have changed as well.  The former are likely to campaign on the basis of being young and energetic and therefore get a ready and willing ear from women and youth.

The later will not however  be a walk over and will certainly give them a practical example of how politics is run.

Do you think Jaguar has what it takes to become Starehe MP or he should just stick to what he knows best Music?
