"He is being questioned and will record a statement before he is arraigned in court on Monday," Mr Ombati said.

Mr Ombati said that the MP had gone to the function and protested that he had not been involved in the preparations.

P Live has however learned that the MP has since been released from police custody following the intervention of Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who visited Mr.Anami at the Kakamega police station.

Police released the legislator after recording a statement but told him to report back on Monday.

Senator Khalwale however said that Mr. Anami would only report back after the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet writes to them explaining reasons for the arrest.
