Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth on Friday announced that he will be vying as an independent candidate in the August 8 Election.
Kenneth stated that he has quit the Jubilee Party following what he termed as rigged nomination exercise.
The former Gatanga MP noted that despite the complaints he raised during the primaries the party did little to address his concerns.
"The Elections were actually a sham. I said on the same day that we had rejected the process," Kenneth said.
Mr Kenneth divulged that he will be naming his running mate next week.
He expressed confidence in winning the election as an independent candidate highlighting that incumbent Governor Evans Kidero was a failed leader.
"Nairobi requires a good manager. Evans Kidero is a manager who has failed and his records will prove over time that he failed us," he said.
The 2013 Presidential Candidate mentioned that he will still support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the much awaited poll.
Kenneth will be facing off Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who defeated him in the just concluded Jubilee primaries.
