Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the second time has dimmed the hopes of NASA fielding a single candidate to face incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta in the August polls.

Musyoka has again run the opposition into a disarray, accusing his co-principals in the opposition of duping him and believing that he is a soft spot.

Addressing a mammoth full Wiper party aspirants at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, Musyoka said that he has been diplomatic enough to give way to other presidential candidates in the past, insisting that NASA should support his ambitions this time.

Musyoka, through an agreement between him and Raila Odinga, shelved his presidential ambitions giving way for the later in last elections.

Odinga, however, did not clinch the seat. According to the agreement, Musyoka was to back Raila in 2013, and later be backed to run for presidency in 2017.

Kalonzo’s sentiments trails over-the-weekend declaration by the Orange Democratic Movement while in Mombasa. The declaration, which was overseen by the region’s political heavyweights Hassan Joho and ODM leader Raila Odinga, insisted that Odinga should be the man on the ballot in August.

In his long speech to the aspirants in his party, Kalonzo faulted NASA co-principals for branding him a Jubilee mole just by declaring his interest to vie the presidency.

“Nobody should construe that I have any other intention other than taking Jubilee home within NASA,” said Kalonzo.

A fortnight ago, Musyoka presented his presidential nomination papers to his Wiper Party headquarters flanked by Ukambani leaders, causing tension that he could be headed for Jubilee.

Ukambani leaders led by former Lands CS Charity Ngilu and Johnstone Muthama, vowed that Musyoka would exit NASA if he is not made the flag bearer.

On his part, Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama alluded to a stalemate within a technical committee appointed the coalition to develop a formula for selecting a presidential candidate for NASA.

“From where I stand, things look tough. You just wait for the outcome that will arrive very soon. In NASA the task is enormous that probably we have not agreed on a solution,” Muthama said.

Wiper party will kick off its primaries on April 18th in Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta and Kwale counties. The party’s stronghold in lower Eastern region will hold primaries on April 24, while Nairobi County nomination are slated for April 23.
