A vehicle that was ferrying police officers was involved in a grisly accident that claimed the lives of three people.

According to eye witness accounts, the land cruiser knocked down a motorcycle which was carrying two passengers and a three-year-old child along Kitale-Kachibora Road in Trans-Nzoia County.
An angry mob swamped the vehicle and burned it after the accident which claimed the three live on the spot.
Vehicle torched
Reports also indicated that a firearm that was inside the land cruiser burned with the vehicle when members of the public torched it.
Members of the public were irked after the driver escaped the scene of the crime as they threatened to lynch a police officer who was left behind.
A report by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) showed that 184 people have lost their lives in the country on the road since the year began.
According to the survey results released on January 27, 2019, by the Authority, this is slightly lower than those who perished by the same date in 2018 in which the number was 212.
Boda boda rules
The reports also showed that pedestrians remained the most vulnerable road users with 72 of them having been killed.
NTSA director for Road Safety Njeri Waithaka, stated that the authority is particularly worried by the number of accidents involving boda boda operators.
The authority said that it has developed regulations on bodaboda which if implemented well, will see a reduction in road fatalities.
