Members of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto have threatened to impeach Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Speaking during a presser at Parliament building, the legislators accused Matiang’i of disrespecting the DP and intimidating them.
The lawmakers had taken issue with CS Matiangi's comments on people who had criticized him and PS Karanja Kibicho.
CS Matiang'i was speaking during a fundraiser on Friday where he stated that he was only accountable to the President who is the appointing authority.
“I take full responsibility for any action taken by the security team. People should not touch my PS. Don’t blame Kibicho for any of your political problems,” Matiang'i said.
Matiang'i tells off tanga tanga
The lawmakers led by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Belgut MP Nelson Koech and his Soy counterpart Caleb Kositany accused Matiang’i and other civil servants of playing partisan politics.
“We want to tell Matiang’i and his team that when we went into an election, there was no separate election for Ruto and Uhuru,” Kositany stated.
Matiang’i told off the Tanga Tanga group for blaming him and Kibicho for undermining the Deputy President and reminded them that a homestead can't have two heads.
He further claimed that some members of Tanga tanga were referring him and Kibicho as the most terrible individuals in the country.
