A Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier and three constables from the National Police Service are the latest suspects to be arrested in connection with the ATM heist in Nairobi West a few weeks ago.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday morning confirmed that Constables Simon Gichui, Florence Karuku, Caroline Waithera and KDF Corporal Eunice Wangari were being held in lawful custody.

"They were last night arrested by Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU detectives in Connection with the ATM Heist at Nairobi West. A motor vehicle suspected to be proceeds of the crime kept as Exhibit," a brief from DCI read in part.

6 suspects in G4S Sh72 million ATM heist get lower bail terms

The fresh arrests may suggest that the heist might have involved a big group with suspects now numbered at close to ten.

Two DCI detectives were the first to be nabbed in Kisumu County with Sh7 million cash and a car that was believed to have been purchased by the stolen cash.

Four G4S employees are also among six suspects who had been granted Sh1 million bond by the courts which was revised downwards to Sh500,000 each after they claimed to have been tortured by police while in holding.

Another suspect was recently arrested in Machakos with Sh2.3 million cash, believed to have been part of the stolen money, hidden in his grandmother's house.
