Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o has been fined Sh400, 000 by the High Court after he failed to show up in Court.
Judge Thrispisa Cherere fined Nyong’o together with his sister Nyagoy Nyong’o for contempt of court, after they failed to appear for a ruling in an estate inheritance dispute with his nephews.
The High Court Judge ordered the two to pay the amounts within 30 days or face a one month jail term.
The Kisumu Governor and his sister were expected in court for sentencing on Wednesday but they did not show up.
Nyong’o and Nyagoy were found guilty of disobeying court orders that had directed them to include their nephews on the inheritance list for the property left behind by their father Hesbone Shimei Nyong’o.
