One dead, 43 in hospital following Sunday morning bus accident[Photos]

The bus carrying 44 passengers veered off the road and overturned

One person died on the spot while 43 others were left nursing injuries in an early morning road accident.

The accident which occurred along the Siaya-Luanda road involved a 62 seater bus christened ‘Clima coaches’ which veered off the road before overturning.

Siaya County Traffic Margaret Kariuki confirmed the accident, stating that the injured had been rushed to Siaya County Hospital.

The body of the deceased was taken to Siaya County Hospital mortuary.

Siaya County Director of Health Dr. Omondi Owino clarified that two of those injured were in critical condition and were rushed to the theatre for operations while others sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged.

“Out of the forty three passengers who were injured, two have been rushed to the theatre for further treatment,” Owino said.

At the time of the accident, the bus was on its way to Nairobi.

Investigations to establish the cause of the accident are underway.
