Francis Atwoli responds to Kenyans accusing him of snatching another man's wife

Atwoli is a self-confessed polygamous man and has been accused of running away with another man's wife

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Monday responded to rampant claims on social media that he snatched the wife of another man.

Speaking during the International Labour Organization (ILO) workshop in Kisumu, Mr Atwoli rubbished the allegations as mere falsehoods.

Being a polygamous man, Atwoli said that he must confirm that his wives were single before marrying them.

According to the COTU boss, one of the many warnings his father issued to him as a young man was never to mess around with somebody else’s.

"Somebody recently tried to tarnish me on social media saying that I Francis Atwoli ran away with his wife. I said what foolish man is this one? My dad warned me that if you are still alive do not fool around with someone’s wife. And I cannot do that.

"Even the several ones I have I confirm with their parents whether they are single or not," Atwoli said.

If the woman’s parents are not in a position to give confirm, Atwoli says he uses his close friends to conduct an investigation on the woman he intends to make his wife.

"My last wife who I am now living with, I asked my friend (Wangare) to go and confirm whether this girl is single," he added.

He went on to encourage men interested to marry his daughters to confirm with him first.
