The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered for the arrest of a Makueni man, after a video of him assaulting a woman went viral.
In statement on Twitter, the DPP directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to have the suspect arrested and arraigned in Court, alongside those who watched the assault as they recorded the video.
“The DPP’s attention has been drawn to a viral video clip of a man assaulting a woman in Makueni. Consequently the DPP has directed the to immediately have suspect arrested & arraigned before court @CREAWKenya,” read a tweet from the DPP’s office.
“The DPP further directed that those who watched and participated in the unacceptable brutality be arrested and arraigned in court too @fidakenya @CREAWKenya,” added another tweet.

In the video, the man identified as Nzomo is seen kicking and slapping a helpless woman on the ground while other people stood by watching and recording the video that went viral.
