Waititu summoned after public fight with his deputy governor
The two allegedly embarrassed DP Ruto on Sunday.
On Sunday, Mr Waititu claimed at a church event attended by Deputy President William Ruto and a host of MPs in Kabete that his deputy was “making too much noise”, sentiments which opened a lid on the ongoing fights between the duo.
“Let me now introduce my deputy, who is Mr Nyoro, although he scolds me a lot,” said Mr Waititu, throwing the masses who had attended the service into confusion.
Mr Nyoro, who in the run up the August 8 elections, had to shelve his ambition for Kiambu County top seat, thanks to the alleged private meeting with DP Ruto, revealed his disappointment in the governor, a move that has prompted DP Ruto to intervene.
“Your Excellency the Deputy President, I never thought my governor would say that (about the differences).
“Sometimes there will be small issues here and there, but it’s not a must they be made public, and so I never thought that he would go public with our small issues,” Dr Nyoro told DP Ruto.
The DP cautioned the duo against soling the home county of President Uhuru Kenyatta adding that such a move would weaken Mr Kenyatta’s home support.
In the run-up to the August 8 elections, he joined Mr Waititu’s camp which was popularly United for Kiambu, ousting former governor William Kabogo. He was instrumental in Waititu’s victory against the former William Kabogo.
Prior to joining politics in 2012, Mr Nyoro worked with the Rockefeller Foundation and briefly served as the agriculture adviser to the presidency before joining the Bill Gates Foundation.
