Police investigating the cause of latest fire incident

More than 30 were left with injuries following the incident with one rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment.

Police and members of the public had a difficult time containing the Saturday night fire which left a trail of destruction, forcing the school to close.

Survivors reported that the fire started near the entrance, trapping them inside and causing commotion as they tried to escape.

The school administration said that the cause of the inferno is yet to be established with Gilgil sub-county commissioner Ndambuki Mutheki confirming that police have launched investigations into the incident.

2018 has so far seen a growing number of fire incidents. On January, a section of Southlands slums went up in flames.

This was followed by a fire that swept through a section of Raila village in Langata.

Yesterday, a raging fire swept through a section of Mathare area 4, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
