Action to be taken against Matiang’i after poor KCSE results

Matiang'i lands in hot water

The results, which recorded poor performance of the candidates, has been the talk of the country with officials in the education sector blaming Mr. Matiang’i.

Following this, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo on Thursday announced that the Education Minister will be summoned to Parliament to explain the awful performance that has since been termed as a mass failure.

Mr. Odhiambo stated that Matiang’i is responsible for the over 80 percent of candidates who failed to meet university entry requirements of C+ grade and above.

The legislator questioned the authenticity of the results noting that the no-nonsense CS was simply doing PR for the Jubilee Government.

“What Matiang’i released on Wednesday was the government's public relation exercise and not the real results. I believe our students did better than what we are made to believe.

"Matiang’i is so irrational and should not be allowed to hold state office especially after it has been proved that he has failed the entire education system," he said.

The results released on Wednesday showed that 142 students out of 615,773 scored a straight A.

70,073 students attained the minimum grade of C+ qualifying them to join public universities. This was 11.83 percent of the 615, 773 who sat for the National Exams.

The Gem MP wondered where all the over 500,000 students will go.

"What will happen to the 545,700 students? I know they exceed the middle level and technical colleges," he said.
