Chiloba takes action against Chebukati, wants him jailed

Chiloba vs Chebukati the fight continues

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba wants Chairman Wafula Chebukati jailed for denying him access to his office.

On Friday, Chiloba filed a legal suit against Mr. Chebukati and commissioners Abdi Guliye and Bobu Molu over contempt of court.

The CEO stated that the two refused to obey orders revoking his suspension from the IEBC and wants them to be jailed for a period of six months.

“The commissioners and chairman’s actions, conduct, endeavors of sending the applicant on further purported suspension in effect removes him from his employment and are without any basis in law, malicious, high-handed, capricious and calculated to injure him” Chiloba's petition reads in part.

On Wednesday, Chiloba reported to his office at Anniversary Towers but was not able to do so.

Reports were rife that Chebukati had flown out of the country with the keys belonging Chiloba's office.

However, IEBC stated that it was simply by chance that Chiloba was returning back to work the same day Chebukati was out of the country.

"It's just some coincidence that  was away. He is the Chairman, he does not carry any office keys. He is not the janitor," IEBC tweet.
