Kenya on Tuesday night received a contingent of 50 Cuban doctors out of the 100 slated to work in the country.
The 50 will be spread across all the 47 counties, with Nairobi receiving a large share of three of the first batch, as the country awaits the second batch on Thursday.
The Cuban doctors are set to embark on training the Kenyan medics for two years in family healthcare among others issues, even as their salary continues to stir up emotions of Kenyan doctors.
The fifty were received at the Jomo Kenyatta international Airport on Tuesday night by Kisumu Governor Prof Anyangâ Nyongâo, who was in company of Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman and the Cuban Ambassador to Kenya RaĂșl RodrĂguez Ramos.
Others included senior government officials from the Ministry of Health and County Governors.

âKenya is eager and willing to learn from Cuba who has managed to eradicate malaria & improve health indicators with infant mortality currently standing at 4.1 per 1000 live births,â the Council of Governors said via twitter.
Already County Governments have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will see the 100 Cuban Medical Specialists deployed in all 47 counties after a two week induction which starts 8th June.
